I'm posting this early as it's easier than trying to log on first thing from work to do it!V is for violin - this is my violin from when I was a teenager and having lessons from an irascible old Irish man - he informed me repeatedly that at around 16 I was far too old to start learning and that I'd never be any good! Truth is, fiddle Donegal-style is difficult at any age, and extremely painful to innocent bystanders while you're practicing, which my entire family and many household pets can vouch for!
When I left home, one of the things on my "to do list" was find a violin teacher and learn properly - I had hopes of maybe even getting near Grade 8 - but sadly it's still on the list as I haven't had the time or the money to do anything about it. (I think when I left home I thought life was going to be one long round of doing whatever I wanted - I didn't reckon on having to work for a living!)
Now, I think I'm doing my other half a favour by not attempting it - I'm extremely rusty and he doesn't deserve the agony! Besides, I'd have to cut my fingernails... :-)
